THE CREATION OF A PORTRAIT

Having your portrait created is a unique and creative undertaking.  We use our experience and talent to make your portrait a one of a kind original.  As a work of art, we want  you to display it with pride knowing that it expresses something special to you, your family and all who view it, now and in the future.

All our photo shoots are shot on location . . . at the beach, park, or at your home (except our Texas studio shoots).  A session with David & Lana is casual and fun.  Our 30 years of photographing children has taught us many lessons . . . never try posing a child, never say smile, and above all have plenty of patience.  We truly enjoy the process!
Relax and let us capture the spontaneity, sparkle, and individuality of your child.  Our desire is to create images of your child that will stop time for a moment . . . a work of art that will be enjoyed and treasured for a lifetime.

Following are some helpful suggestions to guide you in the portrait creation process.

WARDROBE
Clothing is one of the essential ingredients contributing to the final look and style of your portrait.  Your choices should be classic and very simple in order to stand the test of time.  It is important to avoid eye-catching patterns, colors and prints.  Simple all white or pastels work especially well for our Heirloom Portraits and Black and White Gallery Portraits.  The idea is to make you or your children stand out in the portrait, not the wardrobe.  As a rule of thumb, three-quarter length or long sleeves work best for both ladies and men.  The use of like or complimentary colors can make a large group blend together and create a feeling of family or togetherness.  Ideally, no one person should stand out due to color or color style.

GLASSES
Glasses can distort the eyes of the subject due to their reflective and magnifying characteristics.  A good way to solve this problem is either not to wear them or have your optician supply you with a similar frame as your own, but without lenses.  Contact lenses present no problem.

PROPS
You do not necessarily need props to make a portrait powerful, but sometimes they can contribute to make a portrait more personal.  They can suggest a story, or a theme that is meaningful to the family.  If you would like to use props such as your childs favorite teddy bear, doll, pet, etc., please bring them along on the day of the shoot.  We would love to incorporate them into your portrait to make it truly special.  Please do not hesitate to ask regarding any idea you may have.  We encourage your creativity and personal inspiration.

OUR RATES AND FEES

The final cost of the portrait will reflect two basic charges: the portrait shoot and the cost of the prints.  The portrait shoot fee includes the time and expense incurred in photographing the subject.  A photography shoot can typically last one to one and a half hours and may run slightly shorter or longer,  depending on a variety of factors.  We have found young children have a built-in time constraint; therefore, these shoots do not run as long.

PORTRAIT SHOOT FEES ( Boston/Naples)

The portrait shoot fee is a separate charge and is not applied toward the prints.  It is paid in advance of the sitting in order to reserve studio time.

Sitting fees for Boston/Naples shoots are as follows:
Location Portraits: (at the beach, park, or at your home)  $300

PORTRAIT PRINT RATES

Desk portrait prices begin at $95.00 Wall portraits begin at $290.00
All portrait prices include custom retouching, cropping and mounting if applicable. To achieve the desired artistic effect, all post processing is completed in-house by David using a variety of techniques he has mastered over the past 30 years.  These include, but are not limited to: conversion to black & white, toned portraits, and various softening effects.

ORDERING PROCESS

After your portrait shoot, we will schedule an appointment (approximately one to two hours) for you to view your images and place your order at that time.  This appointment may take place in your home, business or location of your choice where you will be shown a selection of images specially chosen by David.  David and Lana will personally help you in the selection process and explain all the options available.  We offer desk and wall sized portraits as well as albums. Due to the custom nature of our work, you can expect to receive your finished portrait order within three to four weeks.  Please allow extra time for canvas wall portraits and albums.
